NIRA Honored as Disability Inclusive Employer of the Year 2025
The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has been recognized as the Disability Inclusive Employer of the Year 2025, a prestigious honor awarded during the Mr. & Miss Ability Uganda 2025 ceremony held on 1st December 2025 at Sheraton Hotel.

The accolade, presented by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in partnership with Brighter Monday Uganda and other disability inclusion partners, celebrates institutions that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing disability inclusion in the workplace.

In the official Certificate of Recognition, NIRA is commended for its “exemplary commitment to creating an inclusive work environment that supports, values, and empowers employees with disabilities, as reflected in the Disability Inclusive Employer Award 2025.”

The certificate further highlights that NIRA’s “dedication to inclusive employment practices has significantly advanced equality, accessibility, and opportunities for persons with disabilities.” This recognition reinforces the Agency’s leadership in promoting a work environment where every employee can contribute and thrive.

The award was received by manager Human Resource Ms. Angella Bukirwa, who represented NIRA. The ceremony symbolized the Agency’s continued efforts toward building an inclusive and diverse workforce.

The achievement underscores NIRA’s ongoing commitment to social inclusion, equal opportunity, and the empowerment of people with disabilities; values that continue to guide the Agency’s human resource and organizational development strategies.

During an interview with Brighter Monday, the Executive Director, Ms Rosemary Kisembo highlighted that, “NIRA remains dedicated to strengthening its inclusive employment practices and championing workplace environments where everyone has the opportunity to excel.”

She also further encouraged other government Agencies to embrace the practice.
